The Bridge
or The Wall? By Deborah Leah Krempa
"
Protect Sacred Water's "
Barrel of my
oppressor's loaded gun.
Roll a
cigarette, taking one last drag...
Cross the
imaginary line, his land or mine?
Cloaked in
heavy military armor, masked!
Foggy skies,
tear gas sprayed in our faces!
Stars at
night, songs, dance and prayers.
Vents of
rage, sacred lands bulldozed.
Dam on a
river, breaks free, water is life!
Freedom, as
we cross the bridge, tear down the wall!
Friends, we
are all related, we are one!
