Name: A.M. Arthur
How
long have you been published? I have been a published M/M romance
author since October 2011, and I have over twenty-five books out, with many
more to come.
What's the worst part about being published?
By publishing a book, you put yourself out there for criticism and
rejection. Those are difficult things to take, especially as an artist. You
spend months creating something, only for someone else to tear it down. You
have to learn to accept that not everyone will love every book, and some people
will flat out hate it.
What's
the best part about being published? Readers! I absolutely love talking
to my readers about not only my stories, but how they identify with my
characters, or how the books impact their real lives. I had a lovely reader
comment in February about a recent release from a real life foster mom who
loved how I portrayed my foster kid character. I love making those connections
with readers.
Are
you self published or did you go through a publishing company? *What are the
highs, if any? *What are the lows, if any? Up until last October I was
only published through small presses, but I have since become a hybrid author.
The high of being with a publisher is I can concentrate on writing; someone
else worries about getting an editor, creating a cover, formatting, etc… All of
the stuff I’m learning to do as I publish independently. The lows of being with
a publisher are a lack of control over certain things, such as the cover art
and pricing, and those things I love playing with more as an indie. I’m going
to continue to publish with small presses, like Carina Press, but definitely do
more indie stuff too.
What is the name of your book(s)? Was it/were they an easy write for you?
That’s a long list that you can find on my website (link below), so I’ll
concentrate on one of my newest series. HERE FOR US is the first in a ménage
series featuring a gay porn star, a go-go boy, and a porn producer. SOUND OF US
follows their story as they adjust to being members of a three-way relationship
and deal with hidden secrets. Both books are currently available in digital and
paperback formats, and I hope to continue the series with some additional
volumes. These books were crazy easy to write. I finished them both in about
six months, back to back. It was one of those rare times when the characters
were really speaking to me, and I wrote until they stopped talking.
What's
the hardest part about writing a book? I tend to write full-length
novels, which fall in the 75-90,000 word range, so without fail, the first
25-30k words are the hardest for me to produce. It’s the first act, I’m just
meeting these characters, and I have to make sure there’s enough plot to reach
my word count goal. Once I get to that point, the story tends to really start
rolling forward with few issues.
What's
the easiest part about writing a book? Dialogue. I love writing
conversations between characters, especially sarcastic ones. I have a very
sharp tongue sometimes, and I’m quick to make a joke if one presents itself, so
having characters who do that is a lot of fun for me.
Where

Do
you have any future projects in the works? *Is there a
tentative release date? I
have a new series coming out in late 2017/early 2018 with Carina Press. The
first book is a “grumpy cowboy falls for sassy city slicker” story, and the
series contracted for three books so far.

come true!

the best part about being published? Knowing I’m helping people escape
to other worlds for entertainment and relaxation.

are the lows, if any? It’s not a low, but for me I’m always thinking I
could promote more or should I just do more in general.

is the name of your book(s)? The name of my series is The Honeypot
Chronicles. Right now, there are 3 books available to the public. I’m currently
working on book “4.”
Was
it/were they an easy write for you? Yes. Sex is one of my favorite
things.
What's
the hardest part about writing a book? Deciding what is and isn’t
relevant to a scene or short story.
What's
the easiest part about writing a book? I think it would be character
descriptions.
