Authors in the Spotlight 8/31

In today's Authors in the Spotlight, we have author Tisha Andrews!

---------------------------------------------------------

Name: Tisha Andrews

How long have you been published? Since April 1, 2016

What's the worst part about being published?
I would not say the worst, but there are opportunities where you do not control the process. For example, the publisher chooses the editor and may also choose the graphic designer who is on contract. They may also determine release dates depending on how authors are signed to the same company. As such, your release date may be selected based on the order of when your manuscript was submitted for editing although you do not know who necessarily submitted theirs before you.

What's the best part about being published?
Having a literary family, a safe place to vent, and most importantly, a larger platform that hopefully allows for you to gain more readers. At the end of the day, however, nothing beat great writing so you still need to earn your readers. Readers may 1-click but you may not gain a fan if you have not won them over with your storyline.

Are you self published or did you go through a publishing company? I am presently signed with Royalty Publishing House

*What are the highs, if any?
The highs are being a part of a team that believes in putting out quality products and encouraging us along the way. Like we can ask for help with cover ideas, synopses, story lines, titles, etc. We can also just come in and ask for prayer if we are going through something and authors jump in and send you an encouraging word.

*What are the lows, if any? I think the lows are you got to keep writing and dropping releases because even if no one says it, if your pen mate is doing well, you want to do well also. Sometimes you lose sight of your own race watching your pen mate's race whose lifestyle may be totally different from yours. For example, maybe they write full time and have no children while another may be married with kids and working a full time job. As such, your production looks different. So the low is remembering that you cannot run other people's race or let that distract you. You got to hone your own craft so whenever you do, you put out a great storyline.

What is the name of your book(s)?
Real Love is Not For Sale 1-3 (published under King Publishing Group), The One That Got Away: A Miami Love Affair 1-3 (Royalty) and my latest release that just dropped as a spin off from The One That Got Away series, His Sky, Her Shyne: A New York Takeover

Was it/were they an easy write for you?
The last book was not but for a myriad of reasons. One, I was going through some personal challenges in my life and it took me five months to drop. That was the longest time in between releases since I first became published. Then I wasn't sure how much I needed to recap because it was a spin off. So I found myself making sure I answered questions or gave information instead of assuming others read the prior series.

What's the hardest part about writing a book?
Since it was a spin off, remembering ages of the children. Oh my God, all of my couples have children and this storyline takes place two years later. Then descriptions supporting characters who are now main characters in the spin off. No, I do not write outlines but if I ever decide to write another one, I will definitely consider the value of an outline that captures details such as what I struggled with as it relates to dates, ages, character descriptions.

What's the easiest part about writing a book? Capturing the raw emotions of all the characters. I am a hopeless romantic so I pour my emotions into my characters be it through anger, passion or wit.

Where can interested readers purchase their copy of your book(s)?
All of my books are available on Amazon. My first series, however, is only in paperback as it will be re-released later on this year as an independent project.

Do you have any future projects in the works? I am presently working on part two of His Sky, Her Shyne: A New York Takeover and another storyline that deals with the Muslim faith. Sort of a storyline of how faith impacts relationship with a spin of hood on it. I am choosing my words carefully as to not give away my storyline.

*Is there a tentative release date? I am aiming for next month for my part 2. No tentative release date for the other project I mentioned.

---------------------------------------------------------

Name: Tiffany Forbes

How long have you been published? February 2016 I published my first book called Silly of Me: May the Best Woman Win

What's the worst part about being published? I take the good with the bad. I was signed to a publisher initially and that was not a great experience. Other than that everything has been great.

Are you self published or did you go through a publishing company? I’m proudly self published.

*What are the highs, if any? The highs are there are no limits to my creativity and what I choose to write about.

*What are the lows, if any? Sometimes as a self published author doing everything myself can get pretty demanding.

Was it/were they an easy write for you? Yes they were. I had fun writing all of my books.

Where can interested readers purchase their copy of your book(s)? All of my books are on Amazon as ebooks. I have paperbacks and can be reached by email

Do you have any future projects in the works? Yes. I most certainly do! 2018 will be good to me and my readers.

"Radical People" by Liam Ehyeh

Pardon my approach
But I think we need more radical people, maybe that's just me though
Like I'm the only one seeing and peeping
These deceivers who upfront promote good
But underneath be filled so much evil
Bout to be a lot of smoke in this city and pants on fire
Dealing with all these liars
But again maybe it's just me though
Bunch of lost souls crowing false kings, idolizing some hero, quote unquote
Like they ain't kill the real thing 2,000 plus years ago
Oh I forgot, not everyone believe Him though
If I said "I can't wait until the King return"
You a look at me and say Bron been home...
So naive that's how it is when the master liar catches you slip
Paying no attention to what he filling you with
Mad when a saved soul tries to fill you in
Come warning you about sins like fornication and drug abusing, or
How it's free condoms everywhere but nobody ever use
Nose turned in the air yet immune to the smell of lust in the pews though?
Yea I think we need more radical people
More light to help the blinded see into the see through
Let that marinate
We need more hearts to be served on plates of food for thought
Soak some up, full or not
And be sure to take some of the meat home
Because The Word says man can't live off just bread alone
Highest praises to the Most High
Before you knock mines do you have a name for your god?
Because scripture warns that many will come, and we always seem to pick the wrong one, don't we?
Sacrifice salvation for sin and be quick to call it fun, won't we?
Too worried about being cool and fitting in to be Christian..
And we supposed to be a radical people..
First enslaved in Egypt before we ever seen southern fields or Attica, people.
History says we were freed in 1865
But Willie Lynch predicted we'd still be slaves after that, people.
And slaves we still are..
No more whips and chains on our frames just mental jails and spiritual prison bars...
The selling of our souls for the exchange of chips and cars...
Too busy chasing limelight, when He supposed to be the star...
No faith in the free land but come home from the hard claiming to have met Muhammad, Buddha, and all them other cats..
Everybody wanna come but scared to come correct ....
Well, I'm not. Shoutout to the scriptures.

Peace, Love, and Selah.

Authors in the Spotlight 8/24

In today's Authors in the Spotlight, we have author Asar!

 ---------------------------------------------------------

Name: Asar

How long have you been published? Since 2016

What's the worst part about being published? The fact that you as well as your work are center stage for the world to see. I'm usually a very private guy, so I'm coming out of my shell has been tough.

What's the best part about being published? The authors and readers.

Most of the authors, I'm in contact with now, I've been a fan of their work beforehand, so it's a still a humbling experience to be in the same circle of the people whose books I've been reading since high school.

Onto the readers. Simply put, the support of the readers has been amazing. Publishing my first novel, the support I received on social media as well as in my personal life was tremendous.

Are you self published or did you go through a publishing company? I'm with a publisher. I'm signed with Miss Candice Presents and I love working with them. The editors are amazing and the cover art is always topnotch!

*What are the highs, if any? Seeing that all my hard work has paid off after so long. I started writing in high school just stay out of trouble and to see people enjoying my work is the biggest high I can get.

*What are the lows, if any? All the competition. I know the phrase, "Competition breeds champions", but the in the writing industry (like everything else) with every positive there's negative aspects.

What is the name of your book(s)? Torrid Passions and Loving Alexis' Curves

Was it/were they an easy write for you? Somewhat, because my brain works like a TV. I'm seeing the entire story and I'm writing what I see. That's great until things get hot and heavy or when somebody dies in my stories.

What's the hardest part about writing a book? As I said previously, I see my stories like movies. Other than that, I'll go record and say, all writers are nuts. We see things, hear things, have people inside our heads, etc and when things are first forming, things are a mess.

What's the easiest part about writing a book? When all the voices and scenes clear, everything runs like a faucet and I just start tearing through my tales.

Where can interested readers purchase their copy of your book(s)? You can find my novels on Amazon.

Do you have any future projects in the works?
*Is there a tentative release date?
I have a novel in the works titled, "Love of Distant Lands" and "Two Lovers in One". As of right now there's no release date set.

Do you have any social media sites that you would like to share with my readers? Facebook
